Port Elliot Festival

I was lucky enough to be invited down to Port Elliot Festival by Caught By The River to paint some signs for their stage and bar area with Jon Mcnaught. It was a really fantastic festival, some of the highlights for me were music from Stealing Sheep and Cate le Bon, and a poetry performance by John Cooper Clarke, but it was packed full of interesting stuff to see and do.

Here's a few picture's of the work in progress, and the finished signs and letters Jon and I made.

Football badge cards

Recently I've made a few cards for family and friends, the old team badge linocuts seem to go down pretty well with the football lovers.

Words on Water

The new paperback edition of Caught by the River's acclaimed collection of essays about British rivers has been released, with a new linocut cover by me. You can buy the book here, it's well worth a read, with excellent writing from people such as Jarvis Cocker, Irvine Welsh, Jon Savage, Roger Deakin and many more. Here's a larger version of the landscape design I did for the cover.

Caught by the River Variety Show

I recently produced a linocut poster for the wonderful website Caught by the River. For their 5th birthday they are putting on a great event at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in the Southbank centre, featuring some of their collaborators and contributors. Should be a really great night, and if you don't know the website, it's always worth a read.

Silent Movie Stars

...and some silent movie star portraits. Buster Keaton, Bebe Daniels, Fatty Arbuckle, Greta Garbo, John Barrymore, Lon Chaney, Douglas Fairbanks.

Heroes and Doomed Lovers

Again I've been failing to update this regularly, so here are some linocuts of some different kinds of heroes, and some doomed lovers.

The lover's are Tristan & Isolde, Romeo & Juliet, Adam & Eve, and Orpheus & Eurydice. They're a bit small in this window, so you'll have to click to see it properly.

Francois and the Atlas Mountains

As a last minute request from the wonderful Francois and the Atlas Mountains, my studio mates, the fantastic artists and illustrators Liam Barrett, Chloe Emiabata, Jon Hill and I, painted a backdrop for their Bristol show. Here's a few pics of the painting:

No time to head home and change clothes meant rudimentary bin bag clothes protection was our first step.

Got it up in the venue just in time and had a really great night at the show, check out their website if you haven't heard them yet. You won't regret it.

Havana

I swear I'm going to keep up to date with posting work up here this year, so in that spirit, here's a sketchbook painting of a view over Havana.
